The Miki Komori Project is a free, atmospheric, story-driven visual novel developed and published by Tech Daddy Digital. It serves as the official lore prequel for the indie English-speaking Angel Shark VTuber Miki Komori.

The game explores the hidden origins of the character Miki before she began streaming, focusing on themes of loneliness, identity, memory, isolation, and the surreal “digital sea.” It is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, which is also her official VTuber debut.

Development

The Miki Komori Project was created by the small indie game development collective Tech Daddy Digital, led by coder and community moderator TechDaddy (@TechDaddyKB). It is his second major project after the 2025 NES Jam title Stardust Gunslinger.

The game is built in the Godot engine, with original character art and atmospheric visuals. The background music is composed by Tyrdr0p, who is also part of Miki's moderating team.

Miki herself wrote the story, did the voice acting and overall direction. The visual novel features significant community participation, including a fan-edited trailer from Angelfin klovar_cc.

Gameplay

The Miki Komori Project is a single-player, text-based visual novel. It should take about 45 minutes to completely finish the game, to fully experience the following features:

The game is tagged on Steam as Casual, Visual Novel, 2D, Anime, Dark, Emotional, Lore-Rich, Story Rich, Free to Play, Indie, Text-Based, and Singleplayer.

Plot

The game starts with a content warning.

It's a visual novel that follows a mysterious girl named Miki, who drifts ashore in a surreal digital sea. It delves into her hidden past “before the streams… before the audience… before anyone knew her name.”

The narrative examines loneliness, identity, memory, and the strange forces pulling her toward an uncertain future. Some promotional text describes it as the tale of “a girl who was never meant to be found,” with elements of surrealism and emotional discovery.

The Miki Komori Project is completely free and will launch simultaneously across multiple platforms:

A debut visual novel trailer was released on YouTube on or around May 21, 2026. The Steam page went live shortly before, quickly gathering over 150 wishlists in the first 24 hours. Pre-release keys for content creators are planned prior to launch.

Reception

As of May 24, 2026, the game has not yet been released, so there are no user reviews or critical scores. Early community reaction within Miki Komori’s fanbase has been strongly positive, with excitement centered on the lore expansion and the personal connection to the VTuber.

On June 3, 2026, several steam keys were sent to creators to play and review the game.
