Miki Komori

“The world has a funny way of giving us second chances, even when we don't necessarily want them. I just hope that this time I can get things right.˚₊‧꒰ა⭐️໒꒱ ‧₊˚”

Miki Komori (born June 23) is an independent English-speaking, magical Angel Shark VTuber.

Phish, a magical cat, is her sidekick.

She is recognized for her cute design, unfiltered opinions and a sleek, community-focused and cheerful streaming style.

Her personality is generally described as cheerful, energetic, honest, wholesome, and approachable. She frequently hypes up and thanks her community, known as the Undercurrent.

As of May 2026, she remains in pre-debut status, with her official debut scheduled for June 26, 2026.

Miki’s backstory is expanded through The Miki Komori Project, an atmospheric story-driven visual novel developed by Tech Daddy Digital with significant input from Miki herself.

The game explores her “hidden origins” before she began streaming — a surreal narrative set in a “digital sea” that addresses themes of loneliness, identity, memory, and emotional discovery.

It is scheduled for free release on June 23, 2026, so not much is yet known about her backstory.

Miki's character is angel shark themed, thus she has light blue hair, green eyes, angel wings, a big shark tail, and pastel nautical/angel-themed outfits.

She used several VTuber models before her debut on June 26.

Miki maintains posted fanart guidelines that emphasize a primarily wholesome focus, with some flexibility (tagged #mikimemories). Her oshi mark is 🦈🪽.

Miki's full name (Miki Komori) is a play on words on hikikomori - the Japanese term for a social recluse.

Miki began building her audience in the pre-debut phase through consistent streaming and community engagement. She streams daily at 8:00 PM CT, multi-streaming on both YouTube and Twitch. She has her own personalized emotes on both platforms.

Her content primarily consists of gaming (including frequent collaborations with Kimera Ki and Phish), just chatting, and community interaction during raids and Hype Trains.

She once canceled a stream to take a investigate the Pentagon UFO files when they just got released.

Miki became embroiled in controversy after harshly criticizing the 2026 horror game Subliminal. She called it “a massive waste of time” in viral shorts, accusing it of poor execution despite promising demos.

During streaming, Miki has been called out several times with claims that she is not who she pretends she is, however these claims have never been officially verified.

Miki has explicitely denied claims that she is a cult leader, which rumors started in Twitch chat. Occassionally new allegations about this surface.

Mikiplier

Rumors have surfaced that Miki is actually Markiplier cosplaying as a cute anime girl, hence the nickname 'Mikiplier'. Sometimes she slips up when a mustache flies in-screen, landing on her upper lip, causing Miki's voice to drop suspiciously lower.

There exists an Mikiplier account on Twitch, however it was created years before Miki and seems to be inactive.

Balding dude

Another urban legend is that Miki is actually a 50 years old balding Christian dude called Mike, using a voice changer to pose as a V-tuber on Twitch. These rumors have yet to be confirmed.

In real life, Phish is Miki's husband, and she is open about her Christian faith.

Miki has openly discussed having a prior full-time YouTube career before adopting her current VTuber persona, referring to it as her “secret past life”, of which she prefers not to talk about.

In streams, she has mentioned that it took approximately one and a half years to reach her first 1,000 subscribers during that earlier phase.

She describes her transition to the angel-shark VTuber identity as a deliberate fresh start while carrying forward her content creation experience.

Little other public information is available about her actual identity or pre-VTuber personal history, consistent with common VTuber privacy practices.

  • Miki admits being clumsy - one time she tried to pirouette and cracked her skull on a TV table corner and shitty parkour cause her cut open her leg. Both incidents had her hospitalized.
  • Miki once was attacked by bees that came through the air ducts.
  • Even though Miki is partially angel and shark, she can't fly and is a horrible swimmer.
  • The Japanese characters on her sweater in the concept art translates to “lonely”, which further helps connect her to the whole hikikomori concept.
