The events of the game take place on June 23rd, 20XX at 6:00 PM. Miki wakes up to her alarm, feeling like she barely got any sleep. Miki doesn’t really care for holidays, especially birthdays. On her bedside table, Miki sees a note left by her mother.

The note reads: “Good Morning, Sleepyhead! Please don’t be mad at me, okay? Money has been really tight lately, and I wasn’t able to take the day off work like I said I would. I know I should have told you sooner, but I couldn’t bear to see that disappointed look on your face again. It breaks my heart! I left some money to order takeout since I haven’t had time to go to the grocery store lately. Make sure to treat yourself, okay? You haven’t left your room for weeks, so maybe some fresh air would do some good for you too. -Mom”

Miki already has come to terms that her parents would miss her birthday due to work, since this has happened before. After reflecting on how she has become a recluse over the past few years of her life, Miki then tells of her plans on going to the beach since it is one of the few places she feels at peace with.

The game then transitions to a Point and click section. There are ten items that can be clicked in this selection, alongside a flickering arrow that, when clicked, progresses the game onto the next section.

The list below describes the items from left to right, and summary of what dialogue is given with that item.

Teddy Bear Plushie & Frog Squishmallow: Miki loves collecting stuffed animals, but a few years back her mother told Miki to get rid of most of her collection, only being allowed to keep a couple of her favorites.

Miki’s Phone: Miki checks her phone and unsurprisingly finds zero notifications, because no one she knows reaches out to her anymore.

The Three Trophies: Despite wanting to throw them away, Miki knows her parents would be upset if she did. Her parents see them as achievements, but Miki only sees painful reminders of her past and how she let everyone down.

Framed Photo of Persephone (Key Item): The only photo Miki has of her deceased kitten Persephone. Miki tells of the day she brought Persephone home. When going to the store with her mother, Miki notices a Pet Adoption Event nearby. As her mother browsed the store, Miki played with the kittens at the event. She vowed to not get attached to any of them, because she knew she wouldn’t be allowed to take any home. Miki has always wanted her cat, but her father was against the idea. In the back of the event, there was a cage with a small, terrified kitten. Miki related to the feeling of wanting to be anywhere other than here that she saw in the cat. She spent the rest of her time petting the kitten through the bars of the cage, both falling in love with each other instantly. “
